A History of Movies

Movies are of great interest to people of all ages. It is one of the most interesting ways of entertaining people. There are different kinds of movies that one can watch, which range from the typical ones that a person can watch at home to the ones that are very expensive and are usually available on the big screen in most theaters. However, it is not only in the theaters that one can enjoy viewing movies. You can also enjoy them in the comfort of your own home with the help of DVD players that you can find in the market today.

A movie, also known as a motion picture, short film, or independent film, is an artistic work of visual art utilized to portray various concepts, ideas, emotions, impressions, beauty, or setting, through the medium of moving pictures. The term of a movie came from the French term, “mise-a-visse” which means “to make a film”. The earliest types of motion pictures included the so-called mumbo jumbo, which is essentially a shortened version of the African phrase “mammy sorry”. While the term has been popularized by the Disney Corporation, the term “movies” generally refers to any kind of visual work, regardless of its style or content.

Movies have a huge impact on the lives of people, especially among the younger generation. Movie stars like Mickey Mouse, Billie Jean, and Michael Jackson have become cultural icons. Due to this, they have been used as the theme or foundation of many educational programs, like the Harry Potter series and the Monty Python’s Python and The Holy Grail. The internet has also played a huge part in the creation of many movies, with websites like Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube being two of the biggest sources of new and classic movies. It is estimated that there are at least four to five movies released on Netflix every day, while another six to seven movies are added to Hulu weekly.
